welcome to
emberwood.
new here?
We love our way of being.
And, we think you might too.
Emberwood is for tender queerdos and weirdos, busy adults, curious I’ll-try-anything-once-types, introverts, and those devoted to knowing themselves fully.
As founders, co-conspirators in solitude, and nature nerds we’re delighted that we get to help people cultivate meaningful relationships with themselves and nature while tending to their own inner lives.
We started Emberwood in 2018, off the sides of our desks, while we were busy doing our own exploring and healing through solitude and nature. The Emberwood way of being is a culmination of our shared work in other roles: outdoor ed teacher, social worker, minister, grant writer, green shack leader and camp directors.
We’re are both committed to our own solitude practices: journaling, quilting, labyrinth walks, and quiet coffees outside. When we’re not chasing around after 2 small kids, we can be found debating the merits of the latest James Hollis or trying surprising hobbies for the first time, parkour and metal-smithing.

“I have enduring gratitude for the space this retreat gave me to sink into exactly where I am, where I need to be, and the strength found to keep going. It’s remarkable what the facilitators were able to encourage and frame in an online format in such a short time. What a wonderful low barrier way of getting out of the average everydayness. Even here there are stars. Thank you to everyone who shared deeply of their time and presence. I look forward to more.”

“I asked Emberwood’s Jude and Fergus to plan a half day retreat/team building session for my staff and me. They came through spectacularly! We spent 4 hours exploring some of the hidden gems of our beloved Edmonton River Valley, while simultaneously examining our own need for nature and solitude. The day was thought provoking, insightful and fun! The Emberwood organization is refreshingly different, and their leaders are awesome.”
